The game that flew under the radar after being spotted on the radar.
Anyone remember when the news broke that games on the switch could be portable mode only? Which game was that again? Oh ya, that weird anime Rhythm game. Well I am here to tell you that you need to go onto the eshop and pick up this game. Out of all the games on the switch I was surprised to see so few people mention it. It was one of the first games I got on my switch and I don't regret it. If anything I wish more people knew about this game. For starters VOEZ is a port of a mobile game of the same name that was released a little over a year ago. It was well received overall. However it had one flaw that most non-mobile gamers can't ignore... it was free2play/pay. It had a simple system where you had to unlock songs through achievements and whatnot, or you just buy them. Last I checked, to get all the songs was upwards of $80. The switch version remedies this by having a one time price of $25. Still fairly pricey for a simplistic game, however this game packs the content. For that $25 you get all the songs that have been released to date and the promise of future songs along with them with no extra charge, and exclusive songs for the switch version alone. I say promise of future songs, and so far we have seen that with 2 updates giving new songs; 18 and 12 songs. The gameplay is fairly simple. You tap, swipe, and hold to the beat. However the game weaves the mechanics into the presentation to make both a pleasing and unique look. It would be more simple for you to simply view this on youtube or the eshop itself. If you are in the market for a Rhythm game, I implore you to give this game a shot, it might seem pricey for its presentation, however I guarantee you will enjoy it.
Hey there, sorry to not have noticed your post. I think I need to start working on this forum again somewhat. Anyways, I went on holiday and downloaded the demo beforehand. I was surprised by how much I ended up playing the three available songs in there. I might end up getting it at some point, maybe on a sale or when Nintendo will start giving out some Nintendo Switch rewards on their MyNintendo program :P. The thing about Voez and other rythm games though is that people value those a lot less than other genres. I myself love the Guitar Hero and Rockband games and bought a lot of them, but only ever at half or even a third of the price. Contributing to the demise of rythm games right there 😛
Anyways, I've been working on a script that will make it much easier for me to maintain the game database. It is now already operational to some degree, but just needs a little more work to be fully automated. At this point I'm able to simply search for a game with a string and add it to the database here immediately. That's why the upcoming games list on the front page is actually up to date for once ^^. Might post a little video on how it works later on twitter! I actually just added Voez to the database with this script, so you can go and vote on its value 😉
